Okay. So, whenever I talk to my non-shadowhunters friends about malec, they immediately go “Oh, they are the gay couple right?” or “You guys are super into the gay couple” or “You people really like the gay ones, huh”.
It is true. My fandom is super “into the gay couple”. But I just want to make it clear that malec is so much more than ‘just a gay couple’. I am so glad that the LGBT community has malec, because honestly it is so hard to find healthy, non-stereotyped portrayals of same-sex relationships on TV.
Even though the fandom is super into malec ( I mean SUPER INTO THEM) it is not just because of their sexuality. We just don’t like them because they are gay.
Just so you people who don’t watch the show know, malec is so much more to us. Alec Lightwood taught us to believe in ourselves, to protect our families, to be true to ourselves and not to be afraid to chase our dreams. Magnus Bane taught us that we are more than our past, to be there for our friends no matter what and to be fabulous, always.
Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane are so much more than ‘just the gay couple’. They are the Head of the Institute and The High Warlock of Brooklyn.
I am super worried about this net neutrality as well others. I use the internet to share my writing with the world, and help me with my schoolwork. I have made a lot of friends online. I don’t want to lose them because of it.
I know a lot of people use the internet to escape from reality. I know many people online have also created incredibly beautiful friendships.
If this passes, many writers who live in the US would disappear due to the fact that we have to pay in order to use the internet to share our writing.
All fandoms would lose potential writers due to this.
Not everyone would be able to afford to pay the fee.
Please reblog this post to spread the word within all fandoms.
PLEASE BEWARE!If it passes within the US, there are possibilities that this would happen in other countries.
If you spare time to sign the international petition below,
Hey everybody! It’s been a while since I updated any of my stories (mostly because I continuously make new ones) but it’s also almost Winter Break for me. (Which means time to update) But……..
I CAN’T UPDATE WITHOUT INTERNET THAT DOESN’T TRACK ME
(my parents have no idea I even write fanfic, Net Neutrality allows me to feel comfortable in my online spaces)
So! I’m cutting a deal.
Anyone (with an account) that sends me a video of them calling their senators( I need to at the very least see a hand and hear your voice) , a screenshot of having signed a petition (the page that verifies you signed), a SENT email, screen shots of constant tweets meant to break the internet, or pictures of you at a rally can request a free fanfic/original story/idea/anything written/chapter/ etc….
(Not that they’ve ever costed anything)
NSFW is not open (intense kissing/suggestive behavior is okay), rape is not open, any kind of intense sexual elements basically. Abusive/sick/coming out/wacky/magic and pretty much everything else is good! You want Klance, I’ll do Klance. You want Shaladin, I’ll do it. You want a MLP and Dexter’s laboratory crossover? Buckle down, here it comes.
REMEBER: I need proof you’ve done it and are not just talking into the phone or saying you did. If an Anon can find a way, I’m open to it. But they should mostly be in my messages. I judge the verification.
Fight for Net Neutrality and get a fanfic basically.
I reserve the right to deny a story, and you may request another in it’s place. I do not need personal information to verify you did it. (Name, phone number, etc)
Original Requests need to be sent by the 20th and you have until the 14th to send me your verification.
Please, hear me out for a second. I don’t even live in the US and I am so concerned about net neutrality. Why?
Because
a) if they really make people pay for the Internet in the US, it will happen everywhere.
b) I’ll lose so many of my friends. I have several friends in the US, but how are we supposed to keep in touch without the Internet? How am I supposed to reach out to them?
c) Tumblr won’t be the same anymore. Half of the writers will disappear. The amount of fanfiction writers and readers will be dramatically reduced. People will stop doing what they love because they won’t be able to afford a site.
And this doesn’t even cover very important issues like the changes that will take place in the educational and the health system, the way people find jobs or pay taxes, the way they choose to keep up with the news, or the way many people work from home, using the internet.
And again. If this happens in the US, it will affect all the other countries eventually. SO PLEASE. Sign the international petition.
I did it. I asked my friends on FB to do it. I ask you to do it, too, because it only takes a minute but it’s so important. Because it can make a difference.
Let’s make sure the internet stays accessible to everyone.
The vote for Net Neutrality is December 14th. Keep calling. Keep writing. Go to battleforthenet.com to find out how to call your representatives. Do not let this die.
To quote from Google, the literal definition is: “the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites.”
Essentially, net neutrality is what keeps the internet a level playing field for all who are able to access it and use it for all different purposes–these purposes could be simply browsing the web, streaming videos, making online purchases, using tumblr, twitter, facebook, instagram, snapchat, skype, whatsapp, youtube, or bigger things like starting your own company, having a website for your art portfolio, using online schooling, starting up an etsy shop, etc. Having net neutrality remain in place will give everyone an equal opportunity to use all of these sites and an equal opportunity to be successful when using the internet as a business platform.
If net neutrality is repealed, big cable companies like verizon, comcast, at&t, etc. will require either you or the websites you currently have access to to pay THEM (the big cable companies) significantly more money per site to be put in a “fast lane” connection so that you can access those sites with ease, leaving other sites that can’t afford to pay these huge fees left in an enormous shadow and requiring you to pay even MORE out of pocket just to access things you’ve always been able to.
Net neutrality is incredibly important. Some people are brushing it off as if it won’t be a big deal, but the entire principle of the internet is to be a level playing field and for everyone, no matter who you are, to have the exact same access as anyone else. Requiring you to pay fees for the sites you visit daily will be an incredible detriment to the ideal of freedom on the internet.
Please do not take this subject lightly, it is incredibly important.
Also please remember that if net neutrality is repealed, it is NOT the end. We still have to remain fighting for internet freedom. And if we win this first battle there WILL be more to come.
IF CASE ANYONE WANTS TO PROTEST NET NEUTRALITY BEING REPEALED BUT HATES TALKING ON THE PHONE LIKE I DO!!!! Quick and easy way to protest this grotesque stripping of freedoms.
This felt like an appropriate photo to share today! Thanks for all the love on my new video, it’s been very inspiring to read all of your stories in...
